Achieve perfectly cooked eggs in your air fryer with minimal effort and oil. Great for a quick, hands-off breakfast!

Ingredients

    • 1 large egg

    • A small, oven-safe ramekin or ceramic dish (about 4-6 ounce capacity) that fits in your air fryer basket

    • Non-stick cooking spray or a tiny bit of olive oil for greasing

    • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

    • Optional: Pinch of shredded cheese, chopped herbs, or cooked bacon bits for topping

Instructions:

  • Preheat Air Fryer (Optional but Recommended): Preheat your air fryer to 300°F (150°C) for 2-3 minutes.

  • Prepare Ramekin: Lightly grease the inside of your ramekin or small oven-safe dish with cooking spray or a dab of olive oil.

  • Add Egg: Carefully crack the egg directly into the prepared ramekin. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.

  • Air Fry: Carefully place the ramekin with the egg into the air fryer basket.

    • For Runny Yolk (Over Easy/Medium): Air fry for 6-8 minutes.

    • For Firm but Jammy Yolk (Hard-Boiled texture yolk): Air fry for 8-9 minutes.

    • For Fully Cooked Yolk (Hard-Boiled texture yolk): Air fry for 9-10 minutes. (Cooking times can vary slightly based on air fryer model and desired yolk consistency.)

  • Check Doneness & Serve: Carefully remove the ramekin from the air fryer (it will be hot!). The whites should be set and opaque. If desired, top with a sprinkle of cheese or herbs while hot. Serve immediately. You can eat it directly from the ramekin or gently slide it onto toast.

Notes:

  • Ramekin Size: Ensure your ramekin is oven-safe and fits comfortably in your air fryer basket. A small, shallow dish works best for even cooking.
  • Doneness: Monitor closely, especially the first time you make this, as air fryer wattages vary. Adjust cooking time by 30-second increments if needed.
  • No Flipping Needed: Unlike frying in a pan, you don't need to flip the egg in the air fryer.
  • Easy Cleanup: Cooking in a ramekin keeps your air fryer basket clean!
  • Add-ins: Feel free to sprinkle cheese, cooked ham, chives, or a dash of hot sauce over the egg before or after cooking.
