Whip up a delicious Tuna Salad Wrap in just minutes! Perfect for a quick lunch or snack. All you need is tuna, mayo, lettuce, and a tortilla.

Ingredients

    • 1 (5-6 ounce / 140-170g) can tuna in water or oil, well-drained and flaked

    • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (or light mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, or mashed avocado for a healthier twist)

    • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (or yellow mustard)

    • 1/2 stalk celery, finely chopped

    • 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion or green onion (scallions)

    • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish or finely minced dill pickle

    • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste

    • Pinch of salt (optional, as tuna and mayo can be salty)

    • 2 large (8-10 inch) flour tortillas or whole wheat wraps

    • 2 large lettuce leaves (romaine, butter, or green leaf), washed and dried

Instructions:

  • Prepare Tuna Salad: In a medium bowl, combine the well-drained and flaked tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, finely chopped celery, chopped red or green onion, pickle relish, lemon juice, black pepper, and optional pinch of salt.

  • Mix Thoroughly: Use a fork to mix all ingredients together until well combined and the tuna is broken up to your desired consistency. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed (you might want more lemon, mustard, or pepper).

  • Assemble Wraps: Lay each tortilla flat on a clean surface. Place one large lettuce leaf over the center of each tortilla. This acts as a barrier to prevent the tortilla from getting soggy and adds extra crunch.

  • Fill and Roll: Spoon half of the tuna salad mixture onto the center of each lettuce-lined tortilla.

  • Roll the Wrap: Fold in the two opposite sides of the tortilla over the filling, then starting from the bottom, roll the tortilla up tightly like a burrito.

  • Serve: Cut each wrap in half diagonally, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes:

  • Tuna Type: Use solid white albacore tuna for a firmer texture, or chunk light tuna for a softer, flakier salad. Ensure it's very well drained.
  • Creamy Base Alternatives: For a lighter wrap, substitute some or all of the mayonnaise with plain Greek yogurt or mashed avocado.
  • Add-ins for Crunch: For extra crunch, consider adding finely diced bell peppers, shredded carrots, or a few chopped water chestnuts.
  • Spice It Up: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper, a dash of hot sauce, or a teaspoon of sriracha to the tuna salad mixture for a spicy kick.
  • Herbs: Fresh dill or parsley, finely chopped, are excellent additions for a burst of fresh flavor.
  • Meal Prep Tips: To prevent soggy wraps, store the tuna salad mixture separately in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Assemble the wraps just before eating.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve with a side of fruit, veggie sticks and hummus, or a simple green salad.
